As I wrap up my 6th month of unemployment I find myself slipping into the "poor me" category. My friends and family try to give me strength w/ words of encouragement- "you are smart, you are a go getter, hang in there the economy is tough right now." I know all these things, but it doesn't get any easier.
I read an article about unemployment benefits the other day and agree with part of it. The benefits are good enough to keep me on it while looking for the 'RIGHT" job.
Twelve years I spent in the Navy. Started out a single mom on welfare, enlisted as a Personnelman PN (now called a PS). I applied for and got accepted into the Enlisted Commissioning Program and become an officer in December 2002.
Due to family dynamics- I was forced to make a decision- stay in the Navy and probably head to Iraq or Afghanistan or be home with my family. Well here I am, the SAHM who can't believe this is her life. Don't get me wrong, I treasure the extra time and attention I am able to give my two boys (age 14 and 18 months), but I long for the hustle and bustle of being a career woman.
I hate technology, but am going to embrace it now and use it as my outlet.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to your questions and feedback.
My blog will host a wide variety of topics in the future: don't read it if you blush easily or fall ill over stories of baby goo.
Ciao,
D
